2015 Yukon Denali won’t start with push button

Asked by GuruN85TR Nov 05, 2019 at 06:51 PM about the 2015 GMC Yukon Denali

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We just replaced the battery on our 2015 Yukon and
it will not start with ignition button. All lights
interior/exterior  work, radio, everything. But the
engine does not start. We get a message “turn
steering wheel and start again”   Steering wheel is
locked and wheels are straight. Turn ignition off.
Get out and remote start it and it works just fine.
What could be the problem?

We had the same problem, it is the starter.

We had our Tahoe towed to the GM dealer and they had to replace the steering control module.

Has any one found the fix for this problem? We just had a battery put our 2015 Yukon XL and it started up fine the first time. My wife stopped to pick up something at the store and now it won’t start. It told her to turn her wheels to the right and try again. She tried it and it locked the steering wheel and the start button did not work. She tried the remote start and that didn’t work either.

My local dealer had ours and replaced the steering wheel control module. This fixed the problem for us.
