Wrangler U-Joints

I have a ’05 Jeep Rubicon and I just left the dealer and he said that my u-joints are in need of replacement. How can I tell if I do need to replace them? Is there something I can look for? The Jeep only has 57k on it and not much off road use.

You may notice a thunk when accelerating or decelerating with a bad u-joint; then again, you may not. Excess play can be the culprit for replacement. There are numerous u-joints in the Jeep so you'd have to ask which one specifically he found to be a problem. There really isn't a hard-and-fast rule of what to look for, and that's where the dealerships get you.

well the other way is to get under the jeep and grab the drive safts and if u feel play and can move then when jeep is in park u need to replace the u joints if no movement then shouldnt use that dealer agian aslo with 57,000 mi. it should not have any play
put the jeep in neutral grab the driveshaft and see if thers any play in trhe trunions also see if trhe centering yolk is good 55000 miles 100 miles dosent matter driving conditions do oem ujoints are spicer no greese fittings also oem centering kit not greeseable my p number 602 997 0906 maestro muffler and driveline
