Coolant smell

Asked by 2017VWRLINE Feb 22, 2019 at 12:35 AM about the 2017 Volkswagen Passat R-Line

Question type: General

I own a 2017 VW passat with less than 19k on the clock.  Most of the time I
smell coolant.  I took it to the dealer to have it checked out and they ran a
pressure teat on the system and found no issue.  The car doesn't run hot and
I don't smell coolant in the cabin.  Only when I roll down the window at the
drive thru I can catch a wiff of it or when I part in my garage.  I see no coolant
on the garage floor is this normal?

how did they perform the test? did they connect pressure at the filler cap? If they did they could have missed a faulty (leaking) cap. and of course, is the coolant level correct and not to high.
