Why is my Outback squealing on start up?

Asked by FloridaRover Jul 14, 2022 at 02:55 PM about the 2017 Subaru Outback 2.5i Premium AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2017 Subaru Outback squeals when first started.  It lasts about 5 min or so
and then stops.  I have replaced the tensioner, idler pulley and belt.  When I did
that it stopped for about 2 weeks and now is doing it again.  I am very particular
about my vehicles and can't stand this noise.  Any suggestions?

Small oil or coolant leak , I've used belt dressing , wiper fluid , painters caulk but always a temporary fix .

Yeah I would look for something leaking on the belt. However I have lately ran across some aftermarket unlabeled belts that are just plain junk and stretch out, you tighten it and it’s good for a day or two then right back to making noise.
