Towing

Asked by Karla1975 Aug 24, 2017 at 12:37 PM about the 2017 Subaru Outback 2.5i Limited AWD

Question type: General

I know it's been addressed but there's a lot of
confusing answers. I have a 2017 Subaru Outback
2.5L. It's says it can tow 2700lbs. I live in Colorado
and will be driving over passes. What is the bottom
line I can tow? I'm guessing 2000lbs.  I've been told
not to tow anything at all. Does anyone have
experience towing 2000lbs in Colorado. Facts
please no opinions. Thanks!

The facts are that the CVT is a poor choice for towing and steep mountains passes will only make things worse.

In the owner's manual for the Subaru Legacy/Outback it says: "Subaru warranties do not apply to vehicle damage or malfunction caused by trailer towing." To me, that means if you tow anything with your Subaru, you do not have a warranty.
