When the engine's running with one key, you can't lock the car with no one in it. It senses you and the key are inside and won't allow a signal from another key to override it..... After starting the car, open the drivers door and manually lock it then close the door. On some cars that will work. You can then unlock the door with the other key.

Some car models, like the Nissan Versa Note, have a feature that prevents locking the car with a second key while the engine is running for safety reasons.

So you don't accidentally lock your keys in the vehicle. My 08 Mercury is like that too. Hope that helps! Jim
