Driving and gas pedal stops working

I was driving and the gas pedal stopped
working. I would push the gas pedal and
nothing would happen. Then the car died.
When trying to start it now it turns over
but won't start

open the hood and check the cable. and look down at the accelerator pedal cable broke? $18 for one. Fix the pedal then Have it read for codes, even if the check engine light is NOT on the computer will have stored information and codes. Discount auto stores will read codes for no fee. write them down.
