My 1999 Ford Contour starts, reves itself High and then dies. What could be the problem?

I have a new fuel pump, spark plugs, plug wires and coil pack. After it got cold it would not
start for several days. Now it starts then reves itself up high and dies. What could be the
problem?

It sounds like a very big vacuum leak.

Will it stay running if you feather the gas pedal? If so could be dirty/faulty idle air control valve or dirty throttle plate.

My 1998 Contour shudders, on then off, on then off... when driving at about 65mph. I just replaced the timing belt and it runs smooth at lower speeds and at idle. What could be the problem? 4 Answers

I recently replaced the timing belt and the car is running smooth at idle and lower speeds. Also, it stalls occasionally but starts up right away.

I have a 2000 Ford Contour. I ran a few errands yesterday with no issues. I did not hear any changes in how the car starts or how long it takes. I went out to my car today and it does not turn over. All lights/electricity is on, it makes the sound like its trying to turn on, but will not turn. I bought a new battery hoping that was part of it. That is not the issue, left it plugged in over night and did not drain, so it does not appear to be alternator (which was recently replaced) what else could it be?
