How valuable is it to have a used Toyota Corolla be certified?

Asked by GuruWP4JX May 18, 2018 at 02:27 PM about the 2017 Toyota Corolla LE

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I'm looking at used 2017 Toyota Corolla's.  One is a corporate car, certified,
and the other is a fleet car, not certified, and with about 10,000 additional
miles.  The problem is I prefer the color of the fleet car.

How much weight should I give to the certification and the lesser mileage?

You pay for a warranty with the "certification". What are the prices?

I guess another way of asking the question: Are used cars previously owned by corporations more reliable than used cars previously owned by a fleet?

Both the corporate car and the fleet car have the same asking price, $14,985. The corporate car comes with certification, but I like the color of the fleet car better, so I'm not sure which to choose.

The warranty is probably worth a grand or more. You may or may not use it in the future.

I personally would not buy a former rental car. I would think the corporate car would have been maintained and used better. It would be my choice unless the color was unbearable.
