1995 Chevrolet 1500

Asked by CillaJo Feb 20, 2016 at 07:49 PM about the 1995 Chevrolet C/K 1500 Silverado RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My truck started sputtering and backfired kinda.
Well then it cut off and will not start. We cangel the
starter and still nothing.  So I'm going to get my
starter back. But I was wondering if my truck has a
timing belt or chain? If not then what else can I try?

This could be a number of things, so I am unclear on why you changed the starter out. "still nothing" as in what? Don't turn over, or the motor will not start, run. I'm not sure on what exactly is going on. Tell ya what I do know is that there is a timing chain in there, unless it is a 4 cylinder. Back firing is can be from a fuel issue, or a timing issue, and possibly an open EGR valve. Also I would check for vacuum leaks.
