Inline fuel pump

Recently bought k10 1984 ,owner had added cooper in line electric fuel pump
, when driving up hill it starves for fuel sometimes goes dead ,cranks right up
full power , remove exit line from pump it didn't seem like a strong stream ,
won't keep new glass full filter full, noticed there is no pre pump in Lin filter ,
remove hose going into filter barely any gas comes out

I ment I undid fuel line going to in line pump but it just dribbles out , figured it would flow
