Oil leak 1984 chevy C10

Asked by HavingfunVA Jan 27, 2018 at 01:12 PM about the 1984 Chevrolet C/K 10 Silverado LB RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am a new owner of a 1984 chevy C10 Silverado, I spotted an oil leak from
near the oil pain but not from it. Not sure what this piece is called but it
appears as if a bolt is missing. Is this a big deal or do I just need a bolt, if so
what size? Pictures are worth a 1000 words

have the oil sending unit checked and replaced. Cheap and quick to do.

I'm having the same exact issue. And mine has the same hole in it. I thought a bolt went there too. Let me know if you figure it out pleaseee.

That part is the transmission flywheel dust cover. I haven't taken mine off to find the oil leak.

That hole is supposed to be there and most likely it’s a leak in your rear main seal.
