Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1995 Chevy C/K2500 pickup that when I put into Drive will not shift gears. It will run but won't go into 1st, 2nd, etc. I have replaced the transmission filter but still no luck. I see a few people said it could be a solenoid or shift sensor or ignition switch. Any way to know which one to start with. Thanks

If there are a lot of miles on the trany, chances are it is shot. Just for reference, I got around 160,000 miles out of mine before I had to have it rebuilt.
