Mazda CX 5 MP3 player won't play

I have a 2016 Mazda CX 5. My Ipod won't play through the car's audio system. I have it plugged in as I can see it listed in the menu and I can look at all of the songs, but when I hit play on the audio system nothing happens.

Can someone please advise.

Press play on your device 1st, max out the volume on your device, make sure that you're connected via bluetooth or aux cable.
