Mustang electrical problem

Asked by dcroft450 Jul 10, 2017 at 09:50 AM about the 2000 Ford Mustang GT Coupe RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Have a 2000 mustang ft 4.6l. My positive wire for my sub
woofers grounded out on my frame. The car acts like it
has a dead battery now. When the key is off the door bell
will ding but as soon as I do something to cause power
like hit the brake pedal, turn on the lights or even turn the
key to on it completely looses power.  the battery light
keeps coming up on the dash.If I keep trying to start it
sometimes it'll crank but immediately stop. I fried
something. But I don't know what it could be.

check the grounds on your battery.. i do not think this has anything to do with your sub unless you grounded it the same place your main ground is, and did not properly secure

The positive wire rubbed and broke through between my door jam. That's I could hear it crackling. That's when everything began
