I got my oil changed the other day and is smoking from tail pipe. The smoke is white. Not smoking very badly and only here and there, engine light is on and the code is 171 bank one is too lean.

It means the upper o2 sensor is bad.

Would it cause the smoke though?

Yes if gas smoke,not oil,the ECM is loading up the fuel to it,check ya o2s.

Ok I was just in a bit of traffic with cars behind me with lights on and the smoke is constant while I am stopped...

I cant really tell while I'm driving but as far as I can see it appears to be white smoke

Have you checked your coolant?May not hurt to do so,white can be fuel or water,but if coolant is good,check the o2,you can go to the exhaust with car running you will smell if fuel.

I cant really tell it kind of smells like oil. It also kind of smells like gas... But my coolant is low and I just filled it two days ago. I only have a reservoir for coolant not a direct cap for radiator.

Is there a white mixture under the oil filter cap? You may have a bad head gasket or bad head/block. What does the oil look like on the dip stick?
