When I give it gas it idles fine then right back to wanting to shut off

When it idles too slowly the oil pump and alternator do not have the engine speed to 'keep up' is why the warning lights come on, as they should. Now, the real issue, could be IAC = Idle Air Control, or simply clogged air filter, or so many other things. I suggest you get an OBDII scan, does not matter if your Check Engine light is on or not. It had a tune up n oil change n new air filter n whats an obdii scan

OBDII is On-Board-Diagnostic. (OBDII is 1996 and later)There is a port under the dash to left of steering wheel, that a scanner, a hand-held computer, plugs in to and will produce a code. PXXXX, P for Power train, and four numbers. That code will tell what part threw the fault code to light CEL. It does not magically say what is wrong, but really points in the direction of what part is faulty. Most parts houses will do it at no cost. But if you do this, and get codes, write them down and come back. One of us will be happy to help with a solution. Open a new question so we will see it, I don't go back over every question ~~David

Do you have it in neutral or the clutch in when it idles poorly? did they replace the coil pack when the tune up was done?
