Will an air cleaner/filtration system/housing from a 2000 4.0 v6 ford explorer fit in a 2000 5.0 v8 ford explorer?

Asked by CUPPCAKE3 Dec 23, 2015 at 04:02 PM about the 2000 Ford Explorer XLT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I live in Ca, i bought v8 private sale and it has a MAC free flow air filter
without EO sticker. The only thing in the way of smog & registration,
deciding on just switching out(if confirmed possible) an OEM housing/air
filter intake system from a v6 of the same year...

Is anyone able to give thumbs up, down, or kindly offer any related
knowledge or suggestions in regards to achieving a pass in the visual
smog inspection(hopefully guaranteed) of my 2000 Ford Explorer 5.0 v8
w/ aftermarket MAC filter(no EO sticker) ASAP

Anything not original in California is considered 'tampering' and will not pass. I speak from experience, I live in Calif and indeed, they are very strict. And for reason. CARB and especially SCAQMB (South Coast Air Quality management Board) IVAQMB (Inland Valley) is a non-negotiable issue

I am referring to a photo of the engines from a 4.0 and 5.0 for the year 2000 taken while inside the bay of the explorer. Short answer, no. Different setup.
