My 2000 Ford explorer won't crank or start what could be the problem

First, turn on headlights, and try to crank while someone watches headlights. If they dim nearly out, battery may be bad. If not, make sure its in park, and try placing gear selector in neutral and see if it cranks. The neutral safety switch could be bad, and older explorers antitheft will stop them from starting not cranking, newer I believe block cranking.

It'll turn over and act like it wanna start but won't crank.

cranking and turning over are the same thing so it will crank but not fire have you changed the spark plugs and wires

Will not turn over in park, but will in neutral. It don't do it all the time.

their is a control box under the steering wheel had this problem in a Malibu I had. it can either be replaced or I just cut the box off and hotwired the two wire together

All elites on n brute have had to put in neutral to start always really Krispy no lag when starting. Misplaced keys a week ago took the alarm kept out when put back in everything works normal BUTLOL turn key in park n neutral no crank no click from starter

All lites brite Bart fairly new quarter tank fuel always starts fast n strong. Had to start in neutral lately now no start in neutral or park no sound from stated when turn key

neutral safety switch, it's on the trans where the shift cable connects to the shift arm. Easy to replace. My 2000 did the same thing. Starts in neutral fine but not in park.
