Steering - 2016 RAV4

Asked by bktbnch Jun 06, 2018 at 09:20 AM about the 2016 Toyota RAV4 SE AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

While driving, I've noticed that the steering wheel will get tight every now and
then.  Not that I can't turn it, but I feel a difference while holding it.  Just this
past weekend, I had to have the battery replaced.  Just wouldn't start and had it
towed.

Not sure if this is too obvious, and you have already done it; but have you checked the power steering fluid level? Are there any signs ( scrapes, bent stuff,) of something hitting the rods and bars under the front end? do the bushings you can see look OK? not cracked missing etc. Re; The battery did a shop install the battery? if so, have them tell you why a new battery would cause the car to not start [ like maybe they didn't hook it up correctly or didn't tighten the battery cables correctly?]

It was just inspected and serviced the end of May. Yes Toyota installed the battery as it’s still under warranty. She gave me an explanation that it could have just been a faulty battery. Thanks for your reply. It hasn’t done it the last 2 days.
