Front Suspension Height

Asked by JMCpraise1 Apr 26, 2019 at 07:45 PM about the 2000 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had the transmission replaced in my 2000 Ford Explorer. After that it is
definitely sitting higher in the front end. I have had all shocks replaced and a
front end alignment done and it still still sits higher in front. Is there any other
adjustments I can make to lower front and make ride level?

That looks so wrong. Wondering if someone swapped the rear springs for the front? I know that sometimes new shocks will be high but not that much and settle down. You may have spring sag in the rear and either need replacement or shims. Really don't know how they could do a proper alignment with the current setup.

You can check on the net for the proper ride height for the front and back, measured from a point on the ground to the wheel-well usually. Was it riding high before the transmission swap? If the torsion bars had to be removed from the vehicle to remove the transmission, they probably were not marked prior to removal. Meaning they may have been over- tightened when reinstalled.
