Radiator fan making loud noise

In the summer my car, 1994 Honda
Accord, Ex makes a sound, like metal
grinding. I checked under the hood, it's
coming from the fan that cools the
engine, left side I believe. How do I
trouble shoot and fix before it goes out
and causes a problem? How long can I
expect to keep working? Thank you.
