I have a 2000 Ford Expedition and the alternator
keeps going out I've replaced it four times in the

The main job of the alternator is to keep the battery charged up. Have the battery tested to see if is shorted out and causing the alternator to overheat and fail. Any battery can go bad, especially when they are a few years old. I hope this helps.

Is your battery grounded good? Did you test the other 3 Alt's to be sure they were bad and are they reman's? Buy a new one.
