why won't my window roll down anymore

Possible weak motor or a binding regulator. To much resistance from the power window circuit may have blown a fuse. Also check the condition of the battery.

To help you understand a bit more, the regulator is a framework that has an electric motor attached to it, and either a steel string like cable or plastic strap that winds up or down when you press the button. The other end of the cable attaches to a piece of metal bolted to the window glass, and it rides up and down in the track of the frame work. Usually when the windows start acting like your's does, either the cable is kinked, or the plastic strat has started to wear out and has bad spots on it, but usually the motor has become so weak over time that it just can't handle the load of the glass and the moving parts. To replace the regulator would take between a half hour to an hour, and would probably cost you in the neighborhood of 300 to 400 $. You can usually get the part cheaper at an auto parts store and do it yourself of if you have a handy friend or a mechanic you know, you can replace it for around $150 or so.
