Is there a dipstick on a 1996 Honda Civic EX for the manual transmission fluid?

Question type: General

Just bought one used. There is a small nozzle on the left side of the head cover that had a piece of wood stuck in it. What is this and what should be on that nozzle, if anything.

The manual transmissions do not have a dipstick for the transmission. You just unscrew the fill bolt and the fluid should be up to the bottom of the fill entrance. The location of the fill bolt is under the car on the transmission you'll see two bolts one with a square indention that's at the bottom (your drain bolt) and one with a hex head about 3 inches higher and to the left (your fill bolt). Undo the fill bolt and look inside with a flashlight, the fluid should be up to the bottom of the threads of the bolt hole.
