can I change my 2.2 standard engine to a vtec on my 1996 accord

I need to replace my transmission in my accord, and i found a engine with a transmission for under 1000 but the engine is a vtec I have a standard 2.2, not sure if I need to change anything. can I just put it in the car?

Have a 97 Honda accord with vetec motor bad so got a 2.2 to go back I know that the motor harness has to be charged but will every thing else work
