1998 honda prelude. not start after colum replacment

Asked by Cody Aug 11, 2011 at 11:24 PM about the 1998 Honda Prelude 2 Dr STD Coupe

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i bought i used 1998 honda prelude that someone had attempted to steal. the ignition was obviously damaged around the emobilzer ring. new from the dealer was $500 but a whole used colum was cheap so thats the route i went. changed the colum out but the car still does not start. before i replaced the colum the small light on the dash with a key stayed on now it goes out but the vehicle only cranks. i checked spark and i have nothing. i do hear the fuel pump but when i view the pid data it says the fuel pump relay is off. does the replacement of the igniton require reprograming? any help is appreciated
