I cannot get my 4-wd light to stop blinking? it is NOT in use?

Asked by kellygiles Jan 30, 2007 at 03:15 PM about the 1998 Honda Passport 4 Dr EX 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The light continuosly blinks, even though it is not in 4wd. It will have a continous light like it is supposed to have, when it is put into 4wd. im wondering why it will stop blinking whe not in use. it has never done this before.

A blinking 4WD light is a malfunction indicator. You should find out what the fault code is and get the problem checked out. A Honda dealer would be able to tell you what the code means.

The circuit that sends electricity to the bulb does not close properly if it is continually blinking. It has to do with the wiring that connects to where you put your car into 4wd to the bulb. You need to get a wiring diagram for the area around your dash board to figure out which wiring you are looking for in order to figure it out.

Passports are actually izuzu rodeos so it would not need special "honda" fluid it would need izuzu fluid. Never heard of it. The only thing honda on a passport is the badges-its 100% izuzu. Even the speakers say izuzu on them.
