have a 2002 vw passat.the oil light started flashing then saw a warning of STOP popped up. oil is fine when checked.flashing oil light goes off for a period of time then starts up again w/STOP warning

You probably need a new oil pump. The old one has a little intake screen which is clogged. The motor may have slugged. Get a good VW h=guy to drop the oil pan and change all the PCV stuff and anything else he advises. Probably need a timing belt soon. Check the cam chain tensioner. Use only synthetic oil and get the larger oil filter. Just went through this myself. 2k in repair bills. Good luck!
