Why the battery light is on and brake light
on the dash gauge

Jaun its possible your alternator is not charging, or your battery is going bad. Your battery should read 12.4 volts and should climb a few volts with car running...

You want to take the car to auto zone or advanced auto and they will test your charging system for free...

The brake light probably means the brake fluid level is low. Check the master cylinder.
