There seems to be a short in the positive battery cable

Frequently my van will not turn over due to what seems to be a short in the
cables going too the positive terminal. We discovered that if you wiggle the
cable it would start. Not it is happening more frequently and sometimes won't
start at all. As my only vehicle, it has become very unreliable

If it's a short you would be draining the battery, if it's an 'open,' you lose continuity in the connection. If the break or open is near or at the terminal, replace the terminal. Otherwise after finding just where the problem area is you'll have to repair it or replace that portion of the wiring harness. Sets of positive or negative battery cables are not too expensive.

Could be the connection or it could also be that the battery post is loose inside the battery. Loose post inside the battery requires new battery.
