Won't start with key

Okay I have a 2007 Volkswagen Jetta and they key
goes in fine and you can turn the key but the
engine doesn't turn over. When opening the switch
everything works but it doesn't start and when we
do i do it manually it turns on what do y'all think it
can be.?

the switch is likely bad if it turns over manuely (touching bridging the points on the starter ) then the switch is the likely culprit. replace the elctrical portion of the ignition or the whole cylinder should fix it. either that or check the wiring its possible a wire may have been disconnected some where or broken lose
