Car won't crank

Asked by AllenCL1984 Mar 19, 2017 at 04:10 PM about the 2008 Volkswagen Jetta 2.5

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2008 2.5 Jetta will not start. The battery is
brand new, there is gas and oil in it and it won't turn
over. I was able to put the car in neutral and it
cranked up. I drove it around and let it run for a
while and then I turned it off and try to crank it
back up and it's giving me the same issue. It won't
even crank when it is in neutral now. When I turn
the key all the lights come on no problem. I'm not
exactly sure what's going on. It also has a new
starter on it. Can anybody please answer this
question for me? Thanks

Sounds like it may be the neutral safety switch, either it is bad, or just in need of adjustment.
