burning smell and smoke

I have a burning wires or plastic in my van when it is running and smoke
coming from the air vents any, idea what could be the cause?

Well you may have a wire touching your exhaust or manifold I look for that first go underneath and have a look check your wires it happened to me once the wires touch different manifold in the car died so it does happen that a wire slides out have a look good luck
