nothing I do is working (wont start)

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My cousin gave my 16 y.o. a Honda Civic 4DR sedan as a gift. The car has over 200,000 miles on it and was not running when I got it. Had AAA tow it to my house.I know a little about cars and it seemed like all I had to do was replace the starter so I did and it ran for about a week.Had new starter tested,as well as the battery and they are both good.My cousin had recently replaced the altenator, battery cables, and plugs, wires, rotor so I'm assuming they are good.I here the click, click, click when I turn the key so the starter solenoid is good, turned lights on and had son turn key and lights didnt dim at all so no power is getting to the starter. All the things you do when your car wont start are not working any suggestions am I missing something? Also, under hood fuse box is new and i checked all the fuses under the dash.

Fuel and Spark are all thats needed to start the car...but sounds like you've got a good handle on things so far. You said your cousin replaced alternator, battery etc...did he/she? or was it done by a mechanic assuming he/she is not. I would start by checking those plugs and make sure they are torqued correctly... keep in mind new parts can be defective especially alternators its more common then you think. If you still have problems after triple checking follow link and read this...http://www.askmehelpdesk.com/cars-trucks/2000-honda-civic-62999.html Lastly...make sure you listen for that fuel pump it should buzz for about 5-10 seconds letting you know the fuel lines are being pressurized...if you dont hear that buzz you may need to have a new fuel pump installed...let us know how it all works out for you.
