I have a 2002 chevy tahoe that rpm surge at low idle. I put a new alt on it about a month ago. could it be the battery?

If you have tac/throttle actuator control, I saw a service bulletin for unstable idle, Clean the throttle bore and throttle plate. You might use an old tooth brush, but, don't force the throttle plate. Could be other issues? Any applicable trouble codes?
