Hey I recently attempted to perform an oil change on my 2000 honda accord ex v6. I completed the whole process, tightly screwed on the tank screw and the filter, and started the car. Immediately all...and i mean all... of the oil spewed out on the floor. I checked for the source of the oil spill and it came from near the filter. Should i try to tighten/loosen the filter, or is it a bigger problem like a valve gasket?

Look and see if the old gasket is stuck to the block. If you double gasket (old and new gasket together) the filter it will leak every time.

ditto to the above, and double check you got the right filter.

Or you could have cross threaded the filter on. It should spin really easy when you put it on. Whatever you did, I'm pretty sure you'll never do it again..... :)

1st ) Did you install the new filter by hand? Then snug with a filter wrench. 2nd) Refill with oil and have a buddy crank over engine while looking for the source.
