Over heating

Hey, my car spurted out water from my resivor a
few days ago and now over heats after 5 mins of
driving every time it's driven. I changed the
thermostat, here's the symptoms.(heater blows
cold, fan doesn't kick on though it works, upper
radiator hose stays soft.) There's no obvious leaks
and water/coolant levels appear full.

Sounds like you need to purge the air from the cooling system. Do this by leaving the radiator cap of while it is warming up until the thermostat opens up. Coolant may spill out the top of the radiator but once the thermostat opens it will settle down and flow. Have the heater setting on hot. Add coolant at this time while the engine is running until full. Both heater core hoses should get hot along with the top radiator hose once it starts to circulate. If this does not fix the problem then the motor had gotten hot and may have a bad head gasket now.
I did this and let it sit at running temps, some smoke came out but otherwise nothing started flowing. I plan on replacing the water pump and bleeding the system later today
Do the fans at the radiator turn on and run? If so, slow or fast? If not check the circuit for the temp sender and and fan relays. If all that is ok, then it could be a cracked head or a blown head gasket.
