How do I get the codes to come up using my key ignition in my 2002 honda civic ex

My maint. needed light came on not the check engine light this one flashes. ( my front brakes started squealing a couple of days ago ) but I dought thats the problem but I used to get the codes by using the ignition by turning the key off and on but I cant remember the sequence of how to do it , Can anybody help me out please ?

Go to Auto Zone they will run a free code test. they have the hand held diagnosis machine. It is free.

Advanced auto parts runs free code tests. A squealing break hmm were they wet? That's a normal sound. Did you slam on them fast? I'd still have the front and rear brake pads checked just to be safe. That hats just my personal opinion.
