Are turbo engines as reliable as regular engines? Are turbo engines more expensive to fix?

Asked by Vball_vinnie Nov 26, 2017 at 11:43 AM about the 2012 BMW X1 xDrive28i AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1 Answer

If you take care of it and don't abuse it, the engine should be reliable. Always idle the car for a few minutes to cool the turbo down. Clearly the turbo engine is more complicated and you have the turbo system to repair or replace so yes the repair costs would be higher.
