What could be shorting out the battery? Does the chip in the key need adjusting?

Alarm system was disconnected, alternator replaced, battery still being
drained and car won't start

could be a interior light inside the car itself or under the hood, or trunk even curb lights on the doors.

You clearly have a short somewhere in the car. If you are not good at finding a shorts, it may take a while but a simple method in finding a short would be to remove a fuse at a time and if the battery discharges you will know thats not the circuit with the sort.
