backfiring from start up

Asked by Panda Mar 14, 2016 at 03:07 PM about the 2000 Honda Civic Coupe Si

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Replaced tsp. Now the car backfires as soon as u start it
up. It started up as cutting out around 2000rpms to 3500
and a missin here and there at higher rpms. Found out it
had a low current tps code so i replaced it. Wen i installed it
incorrectly it ran fine til the 2000-3500 range. I finally got
the right readings then it did perfect til i hit about 4500 and
started missing bad and backfired. The car shut down  now
as soon as it starts up its backfiring. Its a b20z2 with ls
tranny swap

this could be down to a number of things dodgey sparking plug, injector down, or the cabutrator out of alignment. could also be caused by lack of compression on one cylinder

All these symptoms you just describe would cause a miss, not a back fire. There is a timing or fuel issue going on here. There is no carburetor on this.
