Brakes wearing out quickley

Asked by Guru87KM May 03, 2017 at 08:16 PM about the 2004 Honda Civic Coupe LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have had my brakes changed 3 times in less than
a year. I don't drive that much, so I don't understand
why they keep wearing out so fast. Also the front
left wheel gets very hot when I drive. Does any one
know what causes this?

You have a frozen up brake caliper. I would change out the front brake calipers. This is whats causing your brakes to wear out prematurely.

Rotors should be turned or replaced when replacing the brake pads or the pads will wear out sooner. Also the information posted above is good advise and I agree with it.

May be a good idea to change out the hardware too. Bolts/pins/rubber boots/pads/rotors ect, rebuild them) The master cylinder may not be releasing pressure very well either, change it out, as-well as any proportioning valves possibly clogging up. Brake lines (soft lines down to calipers) coming apart on the inside degrading, Brake fluid needs refreshed too.
