i turn ignition key and all gauges go dead

when i go to start my 2000 gmc sonoma 2.2, at first dashboard lights go on..bell
sounds..then when i turn key further to start...everything goes dead..nothing.  I
jiggle battery cables...and later it starts fine. cleaned battery terminals. this
happened after I changed the spark plugs.

Most likely a lose connection or a bad battery..
