2006 Accord EX Overdrive Noise

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My '05 Accord EX has an auto transmission and 165,000 miles. It has a noise in the engine compartment that can best be described as "a rattling license plate from a car with way too much bass". The noise last only for a few seconds but has become more frequent over time.  It seems to happen only in overdrive and is noticible beginning at 50 MPH +/-. There is a slight drop in RPM during this time. I have turned off a/c and cruise control but noise is still audible. The front end and alginment seem to be fine. One mechanic thinks it is in transmission but the transmission guy thinks it is a bearing (axle or wheel) but is really unsure. Transmission has fluid. It was changed at recommended mileage, but I have come to find out that the Honda takes a specific fluid and it is doubtful the oil change shop had the correct material/fluid to properly flush and fill. All transmission guy can say is "if never heard a working transmission make noise".

Has anyone had a smiliar issue or problem?

Oil change techs either did not change transmission oil as charged, or did not use Honda Transmission Fluid. Had Honda tech change transmission fluid with Honda specified product and noise dissipated.
