My hood release cable broke, how do I open the hood

The cable pulled out and is on the floor, how do I open the hood now?

The hood should be slightly popped open, so open the hood enough with your left hand to peer in, probably about a half an inch above the headlight assembly. Then with a long flat blade screwdriver, about 12 to 18 inches long, you can insert it under the hood to move the release mechanism to open it. youtube has a video on this exact procedure.

Remember the old school coat hanger with the keys locked in the car trick? If the hood didn't pop a bit so you can open it normally and replace the cable you can usually see the hood latch through the grill or other gaps, bend the coat hanger the way you need it and Walaa!
