Alarm system mysteriously went off.

Asked by Steph_M Sep 06, 2018 at 09:35 PM about the 2016 Subaru Outback 3.6R Limited

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2016 Subaru Outback, 3.6 L.  Last night the car was in the garage
(had been there many hours, unlocked) and the horn started honking and the
lights flashed as thought the alarm had been activated.  By the time I found my
fob and got to the garage, it was just finishing its tirade and stopped.  It
otherwise operates normally.  Does anyone have a clue as to what happened?

Somebody sit on the FOB? Russian hackers accessed your cars computer? A couple mice doing the nasty on the hood and triggered the alarm? You know, we got a real rogue's gallery here at this forum, maybe we should do a police lineup... but in all seriousness, if nothing in the garage is amiss (strange footprints, gaping hole in the wall) I wouldn't worry too much if it was a one time occurence.
