Vehicle security light - Van won’t even turn

Asked by Nater50 Jul 01, 2018 at 08:22 AM about the 2016 Chrysler Town & Country Touring FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Wife came home. Parked the van in the garage.

I went to take the kids out 3 hours later. The thing won’t
even turn.

There’s a red security light that comes on. Nothing else
power related responds or turns on. (dash lights, power
locks. Sliding doors.) Dome lights will turn on with switch.

Battery is not the issue. I replaced the battery in the key
fob also.

It’s a 2016 Town and Country with 27k on it.

I’m clueless on what the issue is.

I was able to solve this issue by performing a hard reset. (Detached battery cables, zip tied them together, walked away for 15 minutes. Reattached battery cables and immediately the vans panic alarm was going off and all systems were back to normal.) I still have no idea what caused the van to go into anti theft mode, but thankful I was able to figure it out.

I had a problem with my 2011 T & C, a few months after buying it in 2019. One day it worked and the next day could not even get into it. I ended up having it towed to dealer and they told me the Master Control Panel had gone out. Not a great thing to have happen. Not covered since used vehicle and was over $2,000

Same thing happened. T&C 2003 red light security issue, no crank no start. Everything else works, power door locks, windows, liftgate ac and radio even turns on when switch to on, but no crank no start. did the 15mins no dice, replaced keyfob batt still nothing. Van's pretty much useless for 2 weeks.
