Asked by GuruX7YLT Nov 23, 2018 at 05:10 AM about the 2016 Ford F-150 XL 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2016 Ford f150 that has body damage but
mechanically sound and was wondering what
years would be compatible to swap either the body
or the guts.  The 2016 had around $20000 body
damage so looking for cheapest alternative

2015 and 2017 F150 would be the only choices.

Depending on your state, if you rebuild a severely damaged vehicle you may have to apply for a rebuilt title when you're done, and you will need to keep receipts for EVERYTHING. They'll inspect vehicle and check for vins and serial numbers on frame, components, and coded in computer modules. The cheapest route would be to find a donor vehicle with a bad motor that you can swap out. A 2015 to 2017 F150 with a blown motor still isn't going to be cheap though.
