While going into second gear there's a pound clunk sound and it feels like the rear is going to fall off. What can it be?

I'd put a jack under that transmission and check if the transmission mounts are still holdin' up their end of the show~

there is a chance that U-joints have worn needle bearings....but would not exhibit these symptoms exactly~

throttle cable adjustment from th trans may need to be custom fitted...
